Choosing the right Incoterm

This video marks itself complete once you've watched most of it. Not yet marked complete.
0:00Which Incoterm should you choose?
0:02It depends on how much logistics you can handle.
0:06New importers, or those without a trusted forwarder yet,
0:10often do best starting with FOB or CIF.
0:15The supplier handles export formalities and loading.
0:18You, or your forwarder, arrange the freight, insurance and import clearance.
0:24That builds your own logistics relationships and understanding early.
0:29Ex Works can look cheapest on the quoted price,
0:32but often costs more once you discover everything it does not include,
0:37such as export clearance in the supplier's own country.
0:42DDP can attract a first-time importer,
0:45because it removes almost all the logistics complexity.
0:49But it is usually the most expensive option overall,
0:54and it depends entirely on trusting a supplier to handle your own country's
0:58import duty correctly.
1:00That is a lot of trust to extend to someone you may not have worked with
1:04before.
1:06Many sea imports into Cameroon are priced FOB or CIF.
1:11Check whether cargo insurance must be arranged locally before you choose,
1:16because Cameroonian import rules have at times required local insurance,
1:22which affects who should logically buy it.
1:26Choose the term you can manage.
