Working with a customs brokerLesson 98 of 136

Working with a customs broker

Choose a broker with direct experience in your product category and your specific port of entry, agree the scope of their work and their fee structure in writing before your first shipment, and ask them proactively rather than waiting to be told about anything that could delay or complicate clearance. A good broker will flag a classification or documentation problem before submission; a broker who only tells you about problems after a hold has already started is not adding the value you are paying for.
