Product viability screening

This video marks itself complete once you've watched most of it. Not yet marked complete.
0:00How do you know a product is worth importing?
0:03Score it against four factors.
0:06Demand: will people actually buy it, and at what price?
0:10Margin:
0:11what is a realistic landed cost against a realistic selling price?
0:16Compliance effort:
0:18how many certificates, permits or inspections does it need?
0:21And logistics difficulty:
0:23is it fragile, oversized,
0:26hazardous or perishable?
0:28A product that scores well on demand and margin,
0:32but poorly on compliance and logistics,
0:35can still be a bad first product.
0:38The friction of getting your first shipment through will teach you more about
0:42paperwork than about your market.
0:45So for your first one or two imports,
0:48favour simplicity over the single most exciting margin.
0:52Score at least three product ideas,
0:55and pick the one with the best balance of margin and compliance ease.
1:00Start simple.
1:02Save the exciting products for later.
