Inspections, holds and seizures

This video marks itself complete once you've watched most of it. Not yet marked complete.
0:00What is the difference between an inspection,
0:02a hold and a seizure?
0:04They are not the same thing.
0:07A physical inspection can be triggered by risk profiling,
0:11a documentation discrepancy,
0:13a tip-off, or simple random selection.
0:17It is not automatically a sign of suspected wrongdoing.
0:21A hold occurs when customs needs more information,
0:25a missing document,
0:27or payment before release.
0:29A seizure is more serious.
0:31It happens when goods are found to be prohibited, misdeclared,
0:35or otherwise non-compliant in a way customs treats as a violation rather
0:41than an oversight.
0:43You generally have a right to be told the reason for a hold or seizure,
0:48and a right to respond or appeal.
0:50Know this process for your country before you need it under pressure,
0:55since panic and improvised responses rarely improve an outcome.
1:01Stay calm, and respond correctly.
