Paying duties and obtaining release

Duty and tax are typically payable through the customs system itself, a designated bank, or increasingly an integrated electronic payment linked to the single-window platform. Once payment is confirmed and any inspection is cleared, customs issues a release order, which your broker or forwarder then uses to physically collect the goods from the port or airport authority, a step that is administratively separate from the customs release itself and can carry its own charges and delays.
